So lately, I have not been feeling too…how shall I put it? Youthful. I’m starting to be concerned with lines, sun damage (and boy I have some sun damage all over my body. Small side story: my doctor keeps asking me if I’m going to Florida any time soon. I thought he wanted to stalk me, but turns out he was just concerned I’ll be out in the sun. Go figure). So after my visit to my dermatologist, I asked for a Retinol cream. He prescribed Retin-A, but I got the generic version (which I’m totally grateful for) called Tretinoin.
I used this cream before for acne, but I heard that the side affect of this version of vitamin A is that it speeds up cell turnover rate and makes your skin better. Basically it is a good anti aging treatment which you have to use all the time just like a cream and this ingredient (in less concentrated forms over the counter) seems to be in many top anti-aging products you see on shelves. So give it some try, do some Googlin’ and check it out for yourself. Wrinkles, here we come!
P.S. Make sure to read side effects, etc. Skin can get itchy, irritated and all that good stuff (talk to your doc).
Oh, and according to Vogue, it has been around for 81 years.
“It’s retinol. It isn’t sexy. It definitely isn’t new. In fact, it was discovered 81 years ago, making it a veritable dowager compared with all the fresh new super-ingredients that have since come onto the anti-aging scene.”
and
“…FDA-approved in 1971 as a prescription-strength treatment for acne…”
